How Kodak made a place in our memories

1:20 / A short film by Chirag SpeaksWatch on YouTube

You have a birthday, a holiday or a family gathering. At some point, someone asks for a picture. This film looks at Kodak's role in making photography more accessible and connecting the camera with the moments people wanted to keep.

A closer look at the history

Photography existed long before Kodak.

Kodak did not invent photography or the idea of recording a memory. George Eastman's camera helped make the process accessible to a much wider audience.

The George Eastman Museum's collection includes the original Kodak camera, introduced in 1888, and its 100-exposure film. That is a firmer starting point than saying people did not take photographs before Kodak.
